Things are not looking good for Dollhouse as far as the ratings go. While fans of the series and of creator Joss Whedon had high hopes for the show, which was granted a second season by Fox, the ratings weren’t strong for the season premiere and they’ve only gotten worse.

The Hollywood Reporter posted the news, stating, “Dollhouse (2.1 million viewers, 0.8 preliminary adults 18-49 rating) punched through its previous rock bottom Friday night to discover a Fox ratings netherworld. The show dropped 20% from last week's premiere, which was already an all-time-low for the show.”

The news is disappointing, though not all that surprising. Putting aside the fact that Fox has the show buried on Friday night, I didn’t think the first episode of the new season did much to open the door to new viewers or to keep casual viewers interested. I’m sure plenty of fans would argue with me there but I actually thought last night’s episode was a lot more balanced and would’ve made for a better season opener.

The numbers have spoken though and maybe I’m being pessimistic but I’m thinking it’s going to take a miracle to get this show the kind of ratings it needs to get Fox to keep it around.
