Later this spring ABC’s going to air a new special featuring Michael J. Fox. The special, titled Michal J. Fox: Adventures of an Incurable Optimist will follow Fox as he travels the world in search for happiness, or more specifically, reasons and examples of what makes people happy.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fox travels to places like the Far East as well as President Barack Obama’s inauguration to talk to people about being happy. The special is set to air on ABC on Thursday, May 7th at 10:00 PM.

Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1998 and hasn’t done much in terms of acting since then but before that he starred in Spin City as well as some classic ‘80’s movies like the Back to the Future trilogy and Teen Wolf. And those of us who were around back during that crazy decade are likely to remember him as the super-conservative Alex P. Keaton in Family Ties. This special sounds like a great family-friendly program. It should be interesting to see what Fox finds on his journey.
