When dealing with the drudgery of everyday life, it’s sometimes hard to remember the universe is full of magic and riff-tastic hilarity. But that realization has hit home with the power of a million Hands of Fate, as nearly all of the principal players in the iconic sci-fi comedy show Mystery Science Theater 3000 are coming together this summer for a very special reunion to end all very special reunions. And before we get into anything else, YES, creator Joel Hodgson will also be a part of it.

As you might have imagined, this MST3K reunion (taking place on June 28) will be tied to RiffTrax, the movie-heckling offshoot from former cast members Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett. RiffTrax is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year – Nelson went solo for the first commentary track for Plan 9 from Outer Space back in 2006 – and we thank our lucky Satellites of Love that everyone understood the best way to celebrate such a milestone would be to gather together most of the people who made it all possible for a live show that everyone around the country will be able to enjoy.

Who will be there, you ask? Well of course Nelson, Murphy (who voiced Tom Servo) and Corbett (who voiced Crow T. Robot) will be there, as they always are, along with the previously mentioned genius behind it all, Joel Hodgson. Also appearing will be Frank Conniff (TV’s Frank), Mary Jo Pehl (Pearl Forrester), Bridget Nelson (Nuveena, Mr. B Natural) and Trace Beaulieu (Dr. Clayton Forrester, Crow T. Robot). As well, the upcoming reboot’s host Jonah Ray will be there, giving fans’ their first chance to see how well the stand-up comedian stacks up with the already established greats.

Time for more details! This will be another one of the highly popular RiffTrax Live events, and the reunion will be simulcast in theaters all over the country on Thursday, June 28, at 8:00 p.m. ET, with a tape-delayed airing for those in MT and PT. And anyone who misses that one can catch the re-broadcast on Tuesday, July 12. But there is no excuse to miss both of them.

The reunion won’t be focused on a single movie, understandably. All those brilliant comedic minds will instead focus their snarky barbs at a bunch of educational shorts and other surprises, and everything will be capped off with a “grand finale SUPER RIFF-A-PALOOZA.” I’m naming my next pet that.

This is just one more reason that it’s grand to be a Mystery Science Theater 3000 fan. Later this year we’ll get to see Jonah Ray teaming up with Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt for the upcoming revival. Considering a Kickstarter record was broken when the project took to crowdfunding, people are super anxious for this one. We will get to see 14 total episodes of the revamped MST3K, which will include a Christmas episode. But before that...

June 28, people. That’s when it’s happening. You can find your tickets here starting April 15.
