Subscribe To Penthouse Takes Porn Into 3D Updates

It was only a matter of time before 3D graphics became a little more graphic. Penthouse has just announced the launch of an all-new channel that will offer pornography in three dimensions. The network, obviously titled Penthouse 3D, has reportedly spent more than a few pennies on high quality software and began shooting 3D high definition adult content last summer. The new channel, just one of numerous Penthouse offerings, will offer those previously filmed movies and programs, along with newly completed material updated every month.
According to Crunch Gear, Penthouse 3D is expected to be widely available by this summer. By widely available, I mean capable of being purchased by the small number of homes currently running 3D compatible televisions.
This news story is a microcosm for why Penthouse just made an offer to buy its rival Playboy. While the takeover failed, founder Hugh Hefner recently took the company private, its further evidence of just how polarized the two companies ultimately became. Like the company or not, Playboy has always tried to remain classy. From the R, not X, rated photographs to the lengthy interviews and thought-provoking interviews, Playboy has never really lived on the cutting edge of new fads. Even when the adult magazine did a special 3D centerfield, Hefner did a few interviews that did everything but call 3D idiotic.
There’s no telling how Penthouse 3D will do, but parent company Friend Finder isn’t above trying new things. That’s why they’re expanding and Playboy is privatizing. For the record, I like Playboy better, but I’m not the type to buy pornography anyway. I suspect many people are in my same boat.
