Reality TV Hits A New Low With Farmer Wants A Wife

Reality TV has brought us some real gems – Average Joe, The Pickup Artist, Temptation Island, and who can forget Married by America. But, I think CW just came up with the prize winner - Farmer Wants a Wife. I swear, I am not making it up – back in February, we at CinemaBlend warned you that it was coming. Well, get ready, it’s here, and you already missed the premiere.

Hollywood Reporter’s review gives us some background info on the show, “But don't give American producers credit for this rural mutation. The concept was imported by FremantleMedia North America after it was successfully deployed in Europe, from France to Finland, and in Australia.

I am glad I read that, because I was about to berate whoever thought it would be a good idea to center a whole show around some farm boy from Misery, oops, I mean Missouri (hey, my dad grew up there, I can say it). My first beef with the show is that the farmer isn’t the hottest guy I’ve ever seen. I live in rural America, and they could’ve done better. Not all Farmers are hot, but come on!

The saddest part is that these women are clearly not cut out for farm life. It is not fun, romantic or easy to live on a farm, and these crazy TV people are trying to make it seem like a great place to meet your mate. But, I guess it isn’t like most romances that start this way go anywhere. It just seems like we are really scraping the bottom of the barrel here…

Farmer Wants a Wife airs weekly on Wednesdays at 9pm EST on the CW network. Check your local listings, or visit CW’s official site to watch the show online.
