Red Faction: Origins Live-Action Movie To Air Next Year On Syfy

THQ has partnered with Syfy to make a live-action movie of Red Faction next year, which is bound to be a low-budget amalgamation of cheap special effects and shoddy acting. The name of the two-hour pilot flick is called Red Faction: Origins and the story will take place between Red Faction: Guerrilla and the upcoming game for the Xbox 360 and PS3, Red Faction: Armageddon.

Danny Bilson, Executive Vice President, Core Games, THQ commented in the press release, saying…

"THQ is blazing a new trail in the gaming industry with our partnership with Syfy by introducing the Red Faction franchise to a new and broader audience" … “This unique transmedia collaboration is one of many strategic initiatives in place to dramatically increase awareness for Red Faction Armageddon and extend the Red Faction brand across a wide variety of entertainment channels.”

The only alternative they left out was that viewers would be horrified at the high-school grade 3D special effects and would ultimately tune out in hopes of finding something else on television to watch the horrid images and cheesy one-liners out of their minds. Nevertheless, this could be a little like XIII the mini-series, which actually was one of the best adaptations of a video game that was based on a book that was turned into a mini-movie.

The show will air on Syfy in March 2011, just before the release of THQ’s video game counterpart, Red Faction: Armageddon. Need to learn more? Head on over to the <=""> to start your nerd-rage over how many different ways they could screw this up.
