If 24 and Lost had a baby, it might be NBC’s The Event. Alright, that might be a stretch as it's too early to tell but the series does have political conspiracies and supernatural twists, which means this show could fill some of the void left by Lost and 24 in some respects.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock or you haven’t had your TV on for more than twenty minutes over the course of the last few months then you’ve probably seen at least one promotion for this series. NBC’s really excited about it and having seen the pilot episode, I’d say the mega-hype is mostly justified.
You can read our review of the pilot from the screening that took place at Comic Con last July here.
Below is NBC’s synopsis for the series and further down are a couple of clips.
The Event is an emotional, high-octane conspiracy thriller that follows Sean Walker (Jason Ritter, The Class), an everyman who investigates the mysterious disappearance of his would-be fiancée Leila (Sarah Roemer, Disturbia), and unwittingly begins to expose the biggest cover-up in U.S. history.
The Event premieres Monday, Sept. 20, at 9/8c on NBC.
