American Horror Story is gearing up for an epic third season that will be subtitled Coven and the show isn’t holding back when it comes to adding actors and actresses to its ranks. On Sunday, showrunner Ryan Murphy spoke out to discuss the show’s newest castings and according to the prolific producer, Jumping the Broom actress Angela Bassett and Tony Award-winning Patti LuPone will both appear in American Horror Story: Coven.

In usual fashion, Murphy dropped the big news via Twitter, discussing his excitement about the new additions.

Also in usual fashion (unfortunately), Murphy didn’t give us any details about what sort of characters the two women will be playing in the new series. AHS actor Dylan McDermott spoke out about the new season, inadvertently noting that Salem, Massachusetts may be a part of the new series. Additionally, actress Gabourey Sidibe has signed on for the new season and some former cast members, including Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, and Taissa Farmiga are also expected to return.

The additions of Bassett and LuPone help to show just how popular American Horror story has become within the industry. The FX drama attracts a ton of well-known talent for both small and large roles. While she has taken TV gigs, Bassett's mostly known for her big screen work, and has the upcoming flick Olympus is Fallen on her roster. Regardless, she's finding the time to join Coven. Hopefully, these two castings are just the start of more epic castings to come.
