Not only has Sean Bean been cast in Game of Thrones, HBO’s adaptation of the George R.R. Martin fantasy book series, but the Fellowship of the Rings star also managed to score the lead role in the series, which is apparently in the pilot stage and begins shooting in October in Ireland.

The books center on a battle for control of the Iron Throne, which will apparently come in handy to whichever ruling family or kingdom claims it when the 40-year winter comes. The Hollywood Reporter posted the news about Bean, stating that he will be playing the role of Lord Eddard “Ned” Stark, “known for his sense of honor and justice, who becomes closest adviser to King Robert,” played by Mark Addy.

While NBC viewers might remember Bean from his leading role in Crusoe, fans of the Lord of the Rings films will remember him from his role as Borimir.
