Christopher Guest's Family Tree Gets Series Order From HBO And BBC Two

Family Tree was written and created by Guest with a little help from Jim Piddick, who has appeared in several of Guest’s films, including Best in Show and A Mighty Wind. The two will also executive produce the project, alongside Karen Murphy. As noted before, HBO will run episodes of the comedy series in the U.S. and BBC Two is expected to run episodes in the U.K. Around eight episodes will be produced during Family Tree’s Season 1 run.

Christopher Guest' is finally returning to work but this time it's for television with a show called Family Tree. Described as 'an improvised genealogy comedy,' the potential series stars Bridesmaid's breakout Chris O'Dowd as a man in search of his real family. A half hour, single camera comedy, Guest wants to make Family Tree both largely improvised and commercial-free, mentioning Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm as an inspiration.
