The Cool Way Outlander Crossed Over With Black Sails

Outlander is finally returning to the airwaves for a new season this fall, and fans can look forward to a crossover with Black Sails in a pretty unexpected way.

Battlestar Galactica Was Originally Going To Be Quite Different

One of the most beloved sci-fi TV series has to be Battlestar Galactica back in 2004. According to showrunner Ron Moore, however, the show could have been very different than what we got.

Outlander Series Begins Production, Ronald D. Moore Wields A Sword In First Set Photo

Along with the news that the TV adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's international bestselling Outlander series has begun production comes this photo from the set. The down side is, it doesn't feature any of the stars, so we'll just have to wait to see how Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan look together as Claire Randall and Jamie Fraser for Starz and Sony's TV series. But the good news is, the photo from the set does give us a look at executive producer Ronald D. Moore, along with a mighty sword and a glimpse of what appear to be shields in the background.

Ronald D. Moore's Outlander Series Finally Casts Lead Character Claire Randall

We've seen quite a few men added to the cast of Ronald D. Moore's anticipated adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's best-selling Outlander books, but the question of who would play the lead role of Claire Randall remained unanswered until today. Starz has announced that Irish actor Caitriona Balfe has been cast to star in the novel, playing the "quick-witted, stubborn but lovely, English 'sassenach' Claire Randall," who finds herself sent back in time during a vacation with her husband.

Game Of Thrones' Tobias Menzies Joining Outlander Series At Starz

Game Of Thrones actor Tobias Menzies has signed on for Starz’s new drama, Outlander, and it looks like the actor may need to brush up on his (lack of) archery skills for the new gig. The British actor has joined the new drama to play not one, but two roles, starring in the drama as both Frank Randall and Jonathan “Black Jack” Randall.

Ronald D. Moore's Syfy Drama Helix Has Started Production

Among the series promoted at Comic-Con earlier this month is Syfy's Helix, a new series from Battlestar Galactica's Ronald D. Moore, which was featured in a panel, though it technically hadn't begun production. That situation has changed as of this week, as the series has officially gone into production this past weekend in Montreal, Canada. And as you can see by the clapboard below, the premiere episode is being directed by Friday Night Lights' Jeffrey Reiner.

Ronald D. Moore's Outlander Adaptation Is Coming To Starz In 2014

Nearly a year ago, we learned that Battlestar Galactica showrunner Ronald D. Moore was working on a small screen adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series for Starz Today comes word that the premium cable channel has ordered the pilot to series, and Starz subscribers hold expect Season 1 to premiere sometime in 2014.

Ron Moore's Outlander Adaptation Secures More Writers

Adventure seems to be the name of the game for Starz. The premium cable network has taken its time in its efforts to establish its identity with its original programming, but looking at Spartacus and now Da Vinci's Demons and the upcoming pirate drama Black Sails, adventure seems to be a common thread… also swords. Among the projects in development for Starz is a series adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander. The popularity of the series alone may be enough to draw an audience, but factor in Ron Moore's involvement and we have even more reason to hope this one earns itself a green light at the network.

Ron Moore Finalizing Deal To Bring Helix Thriller To Syfy

Battlestar Galactica creator Ron Moore has had a hell of a time getting programs to series over the past couple of years, with project like 17th Precinct and an ABC western failing to make it to television, but this year he’s pushing into television a little more productively. Now, Moore may be landing a series order with Helix, a thriller featuring a potential disease outbreak. Moore is currently in talks with former BSG network Syfy to work out a 13-episode straight-to-series deal for the project.

Ron Moore's Outlander Series Adaptation Bought By Starz

It looks like Diana Gabaldon’s time traveling Outlander book series has found a TV outlet and will be moving forward in development. After buying the rights to the book series, Sony Pictures TV has worked out a deal with the subscription cable network Starz to develop the drama project. Battlestar Galactica creator Ron Moore is still attached to pen the adaptation for television.

Ron Moore Adapting Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series For Sony Pictures TV

Sony Pictures TV has just nabbed the book rights to Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, which features a young woman time traveling from 1945 to 1743. Along with the time travel component, the woman, Claire, also finds herself in a love triangle spanning over each time frame. With the series selling over 20 million copies, an eighth book on the way, and fan tours running in Scotland, the book series is prime real estate and Sony has grabbed some good people to pitch a potential show to the networks.

Cam Gigandet Dons A Badge For TNT's New Western Gateway

TNT may already have a resident cowboy in Justified's Raylan Givens, played by the Emmy nominated Timothy Olyphant, but with a new Western on the horizon the network has got to start filling some saddles. The potential new Western from the network is called Gateway, a story about three brothers who try to keep law and order in the titular town after their Pa, the Sheriff, is gunned down. And now we know that Cam Gigandet will be playing one of those law enforcing brothers.

ABC Buys Western From Ron Moore

ABC has purchased a pitch from Battlestar guru Ron Moore. Moore's new project, Hangtown, is a western procedural from Sony Pictures TV, where Moore is under an overall deal. Moore, who was a developer and executive producer of Battlestar Galactica and also a writer for the Caprica prequel, will be an EP for the new project. Hangtown will feature three unlikely crime-fighting characters.

NBC Passes On Ron Moore's 17th Precinct But Renews Chuck

The network had to choose between potential fantastical dramas, and 17th Precinct, which took place in a town where magic and supernatural elements are more important than science, lost out to Grimm, a procedural in a world where fairy tales are real

Three Hour Battlestar Galactica Finale To Air Over Two Weeks

In early January Ron Moore discussed how the finale would be three episodes in length, but Sci Fi hadn’t decided how to run the schedule. I mean, do they do all three in one night and cut off everything else? Perhaps, the network is expecting the BSG finale to be the highest rated thing they’ve ever done.
