Despite all its woes over the first season and a half, AMC's The Walking Dead has amassed a huge following. And even though the story has arguably dragged at times, there is no doubting the fantastic special effects work that goes into each and every episode of the zombie thriller. From the amazing make-up work to the larger computer generated effects, the show has definitely delivered and, in order to showcase the work done by Stargate Studios, AMC has just released a look at the Season 2 special effects.

The featurette does an awesome job of showing off some of the special effects work from the second season, letting us see just how much is done on location and how much of the show is created in post. And I was actually surprised at just how much CGI work goes into not only the zombie hordes but also the landscapes and backgrounds. Also, it doesn't hurt that the video basically devolves into a kill-reel, and who doesn't want to watch all the zombie kills from the second season one after another? I know I do.

Whether for the special effects, the story or the scares, people are flocking to the show in droves, with the series posting ratings highs even on nights when the competition is as stiff as the Grammy Awards. And with the show just heating up, as Kelly's preview of this weekend's "18 Miles Out" suggests, it will be interesting to see how the show fares against the Academy Awards this Sunday. What will you be watching this weekend?

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
