First Teaser Trailer For Casa De Mi Padre, Starring Will Ferrell
It's hard to know what to expect from Casa de mi Padre, the upcoming Spanish language comedy starring Will Ferrell. While the concept and story have potential (the whole movie is made to function like a Spanish soap opera), it's hard not to wonder if the whole thing will keep hitting the same jokes over and over again. Not helping is the fact that the first official preview has arrived online and, because it only lasts 30 seconds, it really doesn't tell us anything about the movie.
Check out the trailer below and see it in HD over on Apple. Yes, it's only a teaser trailer, but there are television spots for movies that say more about the plot than this preview does. I wonder if they are treating it like a standard foreign movie, where the trailer relies more heavily on visuals and narration than it does in-movie dialogue (hence why Ferrell only actually has two lines). This movie is going to be a tough sell to mainstream audiences no matter what they do, but this isn't the route that they should be going. Casa de mi Padre also stars Diego Luna, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Genesis Rodriguez and tells the story of a rancher who must go up against a drug kingpin to save his father's land. The movie is directed by Matt Piedmont and will arrive in theaters on March 16, 2012. |
