E3 2012: Tomb Raider Gameplay Video Features Stealth, Throat-Slashing, Sky-Diving
During Microsoft's E3 press conference, Crystal Dynamics showed an extensive gameplay demo from their upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. It's our longest look at the game yet and really shows off the breadth of gameplay that it offers.
The demo starts with Lara sneaking up on a group of armed guards. After silently taking them out, the alarm is raised and the demo takes on a more shooter-like feel. Lara can finish off downed guards by racing up and slashing their throat open.
Maybe the most visually impressive part of the video is the platforming. She slips into a river later in the demo and must dodge rocks while also shooting any wooden debris in her way. Later on, she dons a parachute and glides past tall trees. These parts seem a bit like they're on rails but that's generally the price you pay with really polished, cinematic moments.
Tomb Raider is due on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next year.
