Joel Edgerton, Jim Sturgess And More Testing For Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
Most of Phase Two for Marvel Studios consists of sequels to already existing properties. First comes Iron Man 3 in May 2013, then Thor: The Dark World in November 2013, then Captain America: The Winter Soldier in April 2014 (not to mention The Avengers 2 in May 2015). There is one original in the pack, however: Guardians of the Galaxy. Set to be directed by James Gunn, the new film will be heading to theaters in August 2014, and while that may seem forever from now there's a lot of work to do. Including casting the leads.
And according to Deadline that process has already begun. According to the site, Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Jim Sturgess, Lee Pace and Eddie Redmayne are all on a short list of actors being considered for the lead role in Guardians of the Galaxy. The actors will be tested for the part of Peter Quill, a.k.a Star-Lord the son of a human mother and an alien father who travels to space to serve as an intergalactic policeman of sorts. Star-Lord is one of five members of the Guardians, a team that also includes characters Rocket Raccoon, Groot , Drax The Destroyer, and Gamora (you can read more about them HERE). The source says that the list above may not be complete, as Garrett Hedlund, James Marsden and Sullivan Stapleton are also said to be in the mix.
So who do you like for the part of Star-Lord? It's a pretty great group of actors they've put together, so it could be a hard choice. Let us know who you want to see in the comments below.
