Top Chef - Season 4 - Chicago
Premieres: Wednesday, March 12th at 10:00 p.m. EST
Judges: Padma Lakshmi, Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons, Ted Allen
In this reality competition series, up and coming chefs compete against each other in a variety of challenges involving food preparation and cooking. They’re judged by a team of professional chefs and food industry people who generally base their decision on the choices and execution of the prepared food made by the contestant or their team (depending on the type of challenge.) A contestant is eliminated during each Elimination Challenge. Contestants have the opportunity to compete for immunity in the non-elimination “Quickfire” challenges. The new season is set to be the most exciting one yet and will feature quite a few big guest chef appearances.

I’ve had my fill of reality TV for the most part and with the exception of a few shows that I’ve hung on to over the years, I rarely give “new” reality shows a chance. I know Top Chef isn’t exactly new but it did premiere after I’d had my fill of reality TV so I never really bothered to watch the series despite the fact that my husband loves it. That said, I’ve heard nothing but great things about this series and given the fact that the writers strike has cleared off much of my primetime TV schedule in terms of scripted dramas, I may just have to give Top Chef a chance when it premieres this March.
