Vanessa Redgrave Signed On to Guest Star On USA's Political Animals
With the likes of Ellen Burstyn and Sigourney Weaver on board, not to mention Carla Gugino, Roger Bart and James Wolk, Greg Berlanti's upcoming USA drama Political Animals is already sporting a pretty fantastic cast. And now it looks like it's about to get even better, based on this latest bit of casting news regarding a guest appearance by another Oscar winning actress.
USA's upcoming Political Animals stars Weaver as a divorced former-First Lady who's currently serving as the Secretary of State and may have her sights set on moving back into the White House. USA currently has the series set to run for six episodes later this summer, but who knows what might become of the series, should things work out for it? A great guest appearance certainly couldn't hurt the show, and it looks like it's getting just that in the form of British actress Vanessa Redgrave.
Deadline is reporting that Redgrave has signed on to guest star as a lesbian Supreme Court Justice. She's described as "the first openly gay member of the Court who is friend and mentor to Elaine Barrish (Sigourney Weaver).
As Deadline notes, Weaver, Redgrave and Ellen Burstyn have fifteen Academy Award nominations between the three of them. That's pretty impressive, to say the least and only further illustrates just how solid the cast of this series is. Redgrave's known for her many film roles, however she's no stranger to the small screen either. She played a recurring role on FX's Nip/Tuck a few years back, and more recently, she starred in the British series Call the Midwife.
In case you haven't seen it, here's the teaser for Political Animals, which gives us a look at some of the characters, including Weaver's Elaine Barrish.
