Within the 21st century (which is to say going back to 2001), we've seen the release of some horror movies that are guaranteed to be considered classics in the long run, and we've decided to take a look back by ranking them.

With 10 Cloverfield Lane set to hit theaters this weekend, we can't help but have monsters on the brain. With that in mind, here are our top ten scariest movie monsters.

This Friday, Tom Cruise faces the challenges of living on an Earth almost completely abandoned by humanity in Oblivion. In June's After Earth, Will and Jaden Smith play a father-son pair who crash land on Earth, thousands of years after humans have left it. Next year Russell Crowe stars in Darren Aronofsky's retelling of the Noah's Ark tale-- the original disaster movie. Noticing a trend here?

The most anticipated arrival was G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Taking advantage of the three day Easter weekend, the movie opened Thursday taking first place earning $51 million in four days, just short of the $54 million that its predecessor G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra earned over its three day weekend debut.

If you've seen the previously released trailers and teasers for The Host, the above clip from Andrew Niccol's film should look familiar to you. It reveals part of the scene where Saoirse Ronan's character Melanie Stryder is on the run and moments from being captured by the bodysnatching aliens, one of whom is played by Diane Kruger. It's not a major spoiler to reveal that the chase doesn't end well for Melanie.

While the spot shows some familiar footage from the alien invasion film, including Saoirse Ronan's character Melanie being occupied by an alien "Soul," this one showcases Max Irons' character Jared and his relationship with Melanie, which naturally changes when the Soul Wanderer takes over his girlfriend's body. As he can be heard saying in the video, he would "do anything to get her back."

Fans of Stephenie Meyer's The Host and those eagerly anticipating Andrew Niccol's feature adaptation of the bodysnatcher story may want to pick up a copy of Us Magazine's Collector's Edition, which hits stands this week and is devoted entirely to Open Road's alien invasion film, headed into theaters later this month.
