Mega Man Universe, the retro platformer slated for PSN and Xbox Live Arcade, is no more. Capcom announced its cancellation today, citing "various reasons."
Universe used Mega Man 2 as the inspiration for its structure and story. However, it was also going to give players the ability to customize their experience. You could make your own Mega Man by swapping in different parts that changed his abilities. A level editor was also included so you could build your own challenges.
Capcom's announcement of the game's demise (via Siliconera) was slim on details. However, the departure of long-time Mega Man producer/designer Keiji Inafune last fall probably didn't help.
