Bilbo Heads A Troop Of Dwarves In New Hobbit Pic
The very first trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, directed by Peter Jackson, premieres tonight at 7pm PST. While you're counting down the hours to that much-awaited first look at the early adventures of Bilbo, the movie's Facebook page has posted a new still from the flick.
Martin Freeman is at the forefront as Bilbo Baggins, the homebody hobbit who is swept along on adventure by Gandalf the wizard and a pack of unruly dwarves. Bofur (James Nesbitt) is to Bilbo's left, with the rest of the pack over his other shoulder, including: Bombur (Stephen Hunter), Dwalin (Graham McTavish), Bifur (William Kircher), and Nori (Jed Brophy). That leaves out Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), Dori (Mark Hadlow), Ori (Adam Brown), Balin (Ken Stott), Fili (Dean O'Gorman), Kili (Aidan Turner), Oin (John Cullen), and Gloin (Peter Hambleton). And presumably Sleepy, Grumpy, and Doc will turn up at some point as well. I can't help but drool over the sheer amount of detail in the costumes, even in this not-super-HD shot. Freeman looks perfect as Bilbo, and it's just damn cool to suddenly have more new Peter Jackson Middle Earth movies to look forward to. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens in theaters on December 14th, 2012. That should give you more than enough time to re-read the book. Unless you're a really slow reader. In which case there's always the cartoon, I suppose. |
