Mouth Taped Shut, the viral site associated with David Fincher’s U.S. adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, strikes again. The site has been Ground Zero for a global treasure hunt, helping fans decipher clues that has led to strategically hidden GWDT keepsakes. Now they’re revealing the cover art for the film’s soundtrack. We have it below:

It’s a simple design, and one that mirrors a recent Dragon Tattoo poster with Rooney Mara’s profile while she’s in character as Goth cyber-hacker Lisbeth Salander.

Fincher’s fans are interested in the upcoming soundtrack because it reunites the Academy Award-nominated filmmaker with collaborators Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who earlier this year took home the Best Original Score Oscar for their work on The Social Network. And the industrial music clips we heard attached to that eight-minute Dragon Tattoo tease that was attached to Straw Dogs in September set the tone of Fincher’s chilly mystery while also setting itself apart from the Oscar-winning Network tracks.

A link on the cover art on Mouth Taped Shut takes you to Nine Inch Nails’ Web site, which says that the soundtrack will be released through Mute Records internationally and on Null in the States. They say to come back to the site for more information on Dec. 2, which still puts it a few weeks ahead of Fincher’s Dragon Tattoo release date, which currently is set for Dec. 21.
