Jack Black Sports A Creepy Mustache In First Poster For Bernie
While Jack Black has had roles that have allowed him to show some range, for the most part he's known for playing the chubby, affable loser. The schtick has served his career well, as his most memorable performances have come in movies like High Fidelity, School of Rock, and - in a way - Kung Fu Panda. In Richard Linklater's Bernie, however, he will be playing a different kind of character. Namely one that murders 80 year old women.
Based on a true story, the film stars Black as Bernie Tiede, a mortician living in a small Texas town who starts a friendship with an elderly woman named Marjorie Nugent. While their friendship seemed innocent enough, months later it was discovered that Bernie had actually murdered Majorie and hid her body. The movie is due out in a couple months and today we have the first poster for the film, courtesy of EW. Check it out!
While you may think that the above description of the real Bernie Tiede is a spoiler, the truth is that's only part of the story as Bernie not only murders Marjorie, but is then forced to go to great lengths to get people to believe that she's actually still alive. The film is Linklater's first feature since 2008's Me and Orson Welles and serves as a double reunion of sorts, as the director previously made School of Rock with Black and it will be the second time that he's worked with Matthew McConaughey, who previously had a role in Dazed and Confuzed. Look for Bernie when it arrives in theaters on April 27th. |
