Ceremony Trailer: Michael Angarano Crashes Uma Thurman's Wedding

Uma Thurman in Ceremony

Last fall at the Toronto Film Festival I caught the sweet coming-of-age film Ceremony, which took its time to grow on me but eventually won me over with its equal doses of charm and seriousness (you can read my full review here). Now the rest of the world will have a chance to see the film, with Magnolia Pictures releasing the first-time feature from Max Winkler (son of Henry) in theaters on April 8. The first trailer and poster have popped up at Apple.com, and you can also watch the trailer embedded below.

Michael Angarano stars in the film as a fast-talking, charismatic and slightly obnoxious Brooklyn children's book author, dragging his best friend Marshall (Reece Thompson) with him as he decides to crash the wedding of his ex-flame (Uma Thurman), an older woman now marrying a pompous British documentarian (Lee Pace). Yes there's a lot of indie movie tropes in there, but Ceremony is sharper than average, and all of the characters develop as people you actually care about. For more about the movie you can also read my interview from Toronto with Winkler, Angarano and co-star Jake Johnston here; otherwise check out the trailer below and look for Ceremony in theaters April 8.
