It has been weeks since Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul were fired as judges, and Steve Jones was fired as the host, from Fox’s The X Factor. Since the initial announcement of the firings, rumors have abounded concerning possible replacements, including having either LeAnn Rimes or Janet Jackson at the helm in Season 2. While The X Factor's other judges, Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid, are not ready to announce official replacements just yet, they are ready to give concrete numbers and genders to the upcoming judges and hosts.

Cowell and Reid spoke out Wednesday about the process of making changes for Season 2 of the popular singing competition show. According to MTV, while the two men are staying mum about who will become a judge or a host next year, they did confirm we will be seeing two women fill out the panel of four judges on the show. We can also expect to see The X Factor revert back to its initial format, featuring two hosts, one male and one female. All in all, next season should be a well-balanced endeavor.

Cowell also explained that the reason The X Factor producers do not want to toss out names is because the negotiation process is just now getting started.

We were waiting to see who was going to contact us before we actually contacted people. We're in that place right now, which is a good place to be in. We will meet a number of people over the next few weeks, mainly to explain to them that this is a big commitment when you do a show like this because of the mentoring aspect.

That means the whole idea of having Whitney Houston judge prior to her tragic death was nothing more than just that: a nice idea. At least it is good to see The X Factor producers are finally getting the ball rolling with putting together the show's next season.
