The Dark Is Rising

Unfortunately for those holding onto hope of a sequel to Deep Rising (look for a direct to DVD announcement soon), the upcoming The Dark is Rising is a movie about a band of warriors who fight the evil forces of The Dark. Joining new comer Alexander Ludwig on the cast roster are Gregory Smith (The Patriot) and Christopher Eccleston (28 Days Later), reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Adapted from Susan Cooper’s book series, "The Dark is Rising Sequence", the plot follows Ludwig’s character who travels through time to find that the future of existences is in his hands. Blah, blah, blah, etc. Smith will be playing Ludwig’s older brother, a tattooed and pierced young man who loves to shop at Hot Topic, and Eccleston will portray Ludwig’s villainous foil, the Rider.

Production on the film is scheduled to begin Feb. 26 with the rest of the cast of nobodies helmed by director David L. Cunningham, who has done nothing worth mentioning.
