Isla Goes Shopping

Isla Fisher is one of the most talented and attractive young actresses to come along in a while. Her appearance in The Lookout is a decent part of the movie’s charm. I have to admit, I’ve been concerned that her career would peter out a little post-child, but it doesn’t appear like it will be. I guess Sacha Baron Cohen will have to stay home and watch the little ones while Fisher runs off with me… er, continues her acting career.

JoBlo reports that Fisher has her next big role lined up as a shop-a-holic. No, she’s not following in the footsteps of Winona Ryder and going all out for a good deal. She’ll be playing a journalist attempting to survive in New York City – a survival that is threatened by the characters need to shop. The story is titled The Secret Dream World of a ShopaholicConfessions of a Shopaholic.

Fisher isn’t a huge name to attach to the project, but the movie could turn her into one. The film is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and will be directed by P.J. Hogan – the director behind My Best Friend’s Wedding. Does Fisher have the potential to become the next Julia Roberts? I certainly think so, but what do I know? I can’t figure out what she sees in Sacha Baron Cohen.
