Let The Sunshine In

I've gone ahead and written a script for a film I plan on calling Sunshine on my Shoulder. It's pretty bad and I can't begin to explain the problems in the third act. One thing I do know, though, I have an 85% chance of getting Alan Arkin to appear in it. Production Weekly is reporting that Arkin is joining the cast of an indie movie called Sunshine Cleaning. Arkin of course, is currently sucking up Oscar-love for his appearance as a horny, heroin-snorting, Rick James-loving grandfather in the road-trip comedy Little Miss Sunshine. Notice a trend?

Arkin's newest Sunshine titled release also stars Amy Adams (she was Jim's bag-selling girlfriend on 'The Office'), Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada), and Clifton Collins, Jr. (great in the you-should've-seen-it TV show, 'Thief'.) Not exactly an A-list group, but then again, Steve Carell hadn't done much when Little Miss Sunshine started filming, either. The script was written by Megan Holley, who so far as written nothing else, but everyone has to start somewhere. The director is Christine Jeffs, the director of Sylvia. I know, I didn't see it either.

The plot sounds somewhat funny. Two sisters start a business cleaning up crime scenes. Since this is an indie film, things can't be funny for their own sake, so the sisters must also learn a lesson about their own lives. The film will be shot around Albuquerque, which has made the mayor very happy and will employ 75 locals. I'm planning on shooting my movie in Albuquerque, too, that way Alan Arkin will feel right at home.
