Moon Attacks Earth!

As a culture, sometime in the late 60’s, we got over the idea of moon-men. I mean, we went there, we saw it was made of not much more than rock, and no one has vandalized Neil Armstrong’s American flag in the time it’s been there. It’s safe to say there are no creatures there wishing us harm and planning to strike back… some day… when the moment is right.

Well, at least two people never gave up the dream. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have sold their script to Universal, and it’s called Earth vs. Moon. And yeah, that’s all we know about it. The Hollywood Reporter says it’s a sci-fi epic, and that everything else is being kept under wraps.

So wait, what? That’s all we have to go on?? That’s like telling someone “I’ve got the most amazing story to tell you about your mom, but I’ve gotta run.” What we do know is that Reese and Wernick are also working on a movie called Zombieland for Sony, which is a great title but not quite as appealing as Earth vs. Moon. What if there are zombies in the other movie too? Are zombies invading the earth at long last?

Clearly I’m getting ahead of myself. Watch Earth vs. Moon be a documentary about the space race, or like a metaphorical battle in which “earth” stands for justice and “moon” stands for the forces of evil. OK, so that probably won’t happen, and Earth vs. Moon will probably rule. But given that it’s just a spec script at this point, it’s probably best not to get too excited.
