X-Files Denials Called Into Question

Enough denials and misdirections have surrounded the X-Files sequel, I Want to Believe, that I’m wary of reporting much of anything, for caution that it’ll be denied or yanked off the internet at any given moment. There’s a new set of images that have popped online and have been around for long enough for me to want to believe they’re real, and they support some of the things we thought we knew about the movie but had been denied.

The images mostly show the FBI in action. There’s a shot of Mulder and Xzibit working together and a shot of Amanda Peet’s character, moving in a stealthy manner with her pistol drawn. If that isn’t enough of the Feds for you, there’s also a shot of over a dozen men in FBI gear, obviously moving in on something with helicopter support.

The most interesting of the images, however, is the shot to the right of Mulder and Scully enjoying a calm, yet passionate moment. Clearly there is more to their relationship then there was before, regardless of what creator Chris Carter or actor David Duchovny wants to tell the public, unless they want to claim they set up the intimate moment to fool promotional photographers the same way they said they did for trespassing members of the press.
