Bruno Mars Is Alone At The Piano In When I Was Your Man Video

The music video for Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man" keeps it simple, focusing on the artist belting out the remorseful tune from his latest studio album Unorthodox Jukebox. There was a retro look to Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven" video, and the same can certainly be said for his latest music video, which features Mars on what appears to be the set of an old variety show.

Dressed up with a carnation on his lapel, Mars sits at the piano and sings about the things he should have done when he was her man. The subject of his regret is barely featured in the video below, though we do get a few glimpses of a beautiful woman, for whom he apparently didn't do enough when they were together. And now she's dancing with another man.

In the end, it's just Mars singing to an empty spotlight.

As mentioned, it looks like he's not he set of a variety show. We get a glimpse of the cameras on him a few times, and the spotlight overhead. The video was directed by Cameron Duddy and Mars himself. Solitude (with an audience) feels like the right direction to go with this song, given the lyrics. And though it looks like something from decades ago, the lack of people offers a stark contrast to the crowded video for "Locked Out of Heaven," a song I have yet to grow tired of even if it plays on the radio constantly.
