Some people like cartoons that teach their kids moral lessons. Others prefer a political bent to the humor. Really there’s room for both in the world, and as long as it’s animated I’ll take a look at it. It may say something about my maturity level, but honestly why give up being a kid? For those who enjoy hilarious, witty, and often irreverent humor in animated form Cartoon Network is increasing the Adult Swim goodness. “God is gooder ‘n hell!”
According to The Hollywood Reporter CN is adding three new series to the lineup. Just as good as more potential awesomeness is the addition of a 7th night of programming for the week. ‘Fat Guy Stuck in Internet’ is a live action comedy about a computer geek who finds his self stuck in the Internet while being chased by a bounty hunter. What? This show could potentially be a huge addition, but I have to wonder how lame the “inside” web jokes will be. 733t speak will get annoying by minute three, but this whole bounty hunter angle could be gold. The John Gemberling and Curtis Gwinn created show will debut this fall. ‘Superjail’ is about the most violent prison ever. There’s no word if one of the inmates will be laying a dookie on the warden’s face at any point, but that’s more humiliation than violent. Still, fecal humor is funny if handled tastefully. Created by Christy Karacas, Stephen Warbrick, and Ben Gruber, ‘Superjail’ will premiere in 2008.
‘Robot Chicken,’ ‘The Boondocks,’ ‘Squidbillies,’ and other favorites on the channel have been picked up for additional seasons. ‘Aqua Teen Hunger Force’ will see a few episodes air this fall, with a new season coming 2008. The ‘Robot Chicken: Star Wars’ special is set to air June 17th. Finally, if you were lost late on a Friday night with nothing to watch except that DVR’s episode of ‘October Road’ you’ll be happy to hear on July 6th the Cartoon Network is adding a block of programming Friday nights starting at 11pm est.
