McG Debunks Terminator Rumors![]()
Ever since he was announced as the director of Terminator 4, there’s been this general movement in the geek community to forgive McG for all his previous years of sucking. Maybe it’s because people instinctively want to believe that this movie won’t suck simply because it’s Terminator. I know I’m in that category. I’ve heard people pointing to Charlie’s Angels and proclaiming it not that bad, as proof of his non-sucking. And they’re right, Charlie’s Angels wasn’t bad at all. Unfortunately Charlies Angels 2 was that bad, and then there’s his awful football movie We Are Marshall, a solid indication that McG has abso-freakin-lutely no idea how to tell any kind of actual story. Hey I hope he’s figured it out and gotten better too, and least he’s not Brett Ratner, but until he proves he can do something besides one sort of good Charlie’s Angels movie, let’s not forget how much sucking he’s done up till now.
That said, he’s made a new post on his Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins production blog here in which he actually manages to sound pretty convincing and cool. The guy really talks like he has the best interests of Terminator in mind, and he even explains why being called McG doesn’t make him an insta-deutsche. More importantly though, in a round about way he addresses those disturbingly awful plot rumors which surfaced online yesterday. If you haven’t read them, I suggest you don’t, they’re spoiler heavy. But if you insist, they’re here. McG doesn’t address them directly in his post, but he does say this: “By the way, there are only three people who know the ending.” The spoiler rumor in question claimed to reveal the movie’s ending. Basically, McG is telling you it’s flat out wrong. Whether that also means the rest of the rumor is wrong, I don’t know. Some of the things he describes in his post do seem to contradict the main thrust of the rumor posted yesterday. For instance McG insists that we’ll be seeing a much more primitive, robot like version of the Terminators in this movie. But it sounds like the rumored ending at least, certainly is. Scuse me while I breathe a little sigh of relief. |
