Toy Story 3 Campaigns For Best Picture By Comparing Itself To Former Winners![]()
While it may be one of the best films of the year (the best according to our own Josh Tyler), the reality is that Toy Story 3 stands very little chance to win the Best Picture award at this year's Oscars. In the 81 year existence of the ceremony, only two animated films have ever been nominated for the top category (Beauty and the Beast in 1991 and Up last year) and both ended up losing. But that doesn't mean that Disney isn't going to give it everything they've got.
Disney has released fifteen posters on the campaign site as part of a series dubbed the "Not Since...", which compares the film to previous Best Picture winners. Such comparisons include the gambling scene with The Sting, the horde of Barrel Monkeys to The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and a destroyed Mr. Potato Head to The Silence of the Lambs. They're all pretty cool and some are actually rather funny. Check out the posters below, courtesy of Dutch website Animatie Blog. |
