Watch Samuel L. Jackson And Anne Hathaway In A Profanity-Laden Christmas Sad-Off
Christmas is about bringing people together. But award season is about pitting the best and brightest of Hollywood's stars against each other in a battle for fame, acclaim and Oscar gold. While those of us at Cinema Blend are deep in thought comparing very different movies to each other to come up with our Top 10 lists, many of these movies are currently vying for your attention, hoping theirs will be the one you choose for your holiday moviegoing. But one question remains: which is sadder?
To answer that question, it's a sad off, ladies and gentlemen! In this corner, we have one of Hollywood's biggest and blackest badasses, Samuel L. Jackson, defending America's dark history of racial injustice and slavery. And in that corner we have the waifish ingénue with the pixie cut and belting lungs, Anne Hathaway, fighting for the plight of impoverished and diseased prostitutes here and abroad! Watch as they square off in this festive and fucked up Funny or Die video:
The stakes are high for both of their films, of course. The former is Tarantino's follow-up to Inglourious Basterds, which scored eight Oscar nods and one win for Christoph Waltz. The latter is Hooper's first film since The King's Speech, which had 12 Academy Award nominations, and took home four honors including Best Director and Best Motion Picture of the Year. Both Django Unchained and Les Miserables are drawing Oscar buzz, but it seems that even this patented sad-off can't solve the dilemma. Django Unchained and Les Miserables both open Christmas Day.
