Anne Hathaway May Sing With Tom Cruise In Rock Of Ages

Anne Hathaway can sing, I mean really sing. Her voice is pretty much the only reason to see Ella Enchanted. With pipes like hers it was only a matter of time until she got cast in another musical and that musical could be Rock of Ages.

Deadline says Anne is up for the role of which would have her spending a lot of her on-screen time opposite Tom Cruise, if he ends up signing for the project as expected. Cruise would play a rockstar and Hathaway the uptight journalist out to expose him. He’s a rockstar though, and she ends up falling for him instead, in a wild bedroom romp. Anne Hathaway isn’t just good at singing, if you’ve seen any of her recent movies, you know she’s also pretty good at wild, bedroom romps.

It also seems like a good idea to pair Tom Cruise with someone who can definitely sing, since no one seems to have any idea at all whether he actually can. The Adam Shankman directed musical will have him belting out 80s tunes mostly, including at least one Bon Jovi song and the Foreigner song “I Want To Know What Love Is”, as a duet with Hathaway’s character.

Here's Anne belting out Queen's "Somebody to Love" in Ella Enchanted:

Rock of Ages is an adaptation of the same-named Broadway musical set to 80s hair metal songs as it tells the story of a young couple following their dreams in Los Angeles.
