Neighbors Goes Bad And Dirty In International Red-Band Trailer

Warning: The following trailer contains sexual content and language that makes it NSFW.

"Welcome to the darkness, bitches!"

Hot off of the success of his hit R-rated comedy That Awkward Moment, Zac Efron is digging deeper into dirty with Neighbors. In the aforementioned raunchy romantic comedy, Efron played a playboy whose greatest battle was his own fear of intimacy. This time in Neighbors, he plays a psychotic frat boy who is waging a turf war with his next-door neighbors--or "neighbours" as they spell it in Australia. The vid up top is the red band trailer out of Australia, where Neighbors is being called Bad Neighbours.

See how they prefer their mayhem unfurl down under. Then dare to compare to the U.S. red band trailer:

In both versions, Efron is the devilish (yet dreamy) leader of a pack of partying, oversexed frat boys with no concept of what it means to be good neighbors. (Rule #1: Don't leave used condoms where your neighbor's baby might come across them. Poor form.) Also, the focus of both trailers is really on the young married parents played by Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen. These are, after all, our uncool but relatable protagonists. The main difference between these red band trailers lies in selling Neighbor's sex jokes.

In Australia's version, we get Rogen taking a man-shaped shrubbery from behind, ("Whoa! Hey man, buy him dinner first!") as well as an Efron-versus-Rogen dildo battle. In the American version, Universal sidestepped sex toy humor in favor of Superbad's McLovin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) publically humping an overly friendly co-ed. ("Cute baby!")

Further adding to the flavor of the supporting cast is a sprawling array of wildly funny comedic performers like Dave Franco (Now You See Me), Jake Johnson (New Girl), Lisa Kudrow (Easy A), Hannibal Buress (Broad City), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Craig Roberts (Submarine), Jason Mantzoukas (The League), and Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project). Along with its promising ensemble, Neighbors has some noteworthy talent in the director's chair in the form of Nicholas Stoller, the helmer of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek. No wonder early buzz reports fans freaking out over this ballsy offering.

For more from Neighbors enjoy these silly spots, the latter of which dares to ask: "Who's Batman to you?" (I'm with Rogen on this one.)

Neighbors opens May 9th.
