Is Bringing Back 24 The Right Call For Fox?
By Mack Rawden 2 years ago
The history of network television is filled with some shows that went away and came back. In fact, Family Guy spent some time off the air before incredible DVD sales brought it back. That being said, itís still extremely noteworthy whenever something gets pulled out of the trash heap, and the latest program to accomplish such a feat is 24.
Fox announced this week that the beloved Kiefer Sutherland vehicle will return in the summer of 2014 for a special 12 episode mini-series that will follow the basic format of the original seasons. Whether that means weíll be getting two hour episodes or jumps in time between episodes is unclear, but with Homeland showrunner Howard Gordon back on board, one would imagine the basic idea would stay relatively close to what weíve been given in the past.
Not surprisingly, the big news has really polarized a lot of fans. Some, especially those who werenít overly pleased with the somber note the show left on, are absolutely elated by Jack Bauerís impending return. They think another season of 24 is exactly what all of the fans need right now. Others, however, think what happened in the past is probably best left in the past. Itís really hard to reclaim magic that was extinguished years ago, and with so many of the cast and crew members onto new projects, thereís no telling how many people will actually be able to come back.
