Jack Bauer Is All American

For many people, Season Six of 24 is where the show jumped the shark, diving into storylines that made Kim Bauer’s encounter with the mountain lion look good. I don’t know much more than the complaints I’ve read. Jack Bauer lost my attention when my schedule couldn’t keep up with the non-stop seasons, although that’s what DVD is good for – taking a show like 24 and making it fit your schedule. Now season six hits DVD on December 4th, giving you a chance to catch up on Jack’s last adventure before the next one starts.

I’ve loved some of the previous seasons of 24 on DVD. This is definitely a series that lends itself to marathon viewing. And, as before, the DVD set includes a preview of the season to come for the die hard fans. Typical 24 content crosses the seven discs in the set, from deleted scenes and commentaries to an alternate ending for the season and a deleted cameo by Ricky Gervais.

The content, while impressive, is pretty standard for this show, but I’ve got to tell you, complaints about the season aside, I almost want to pick this one up because of the artwork. Jack Bauer is about as American as apple pie, and this DVD set wants you to know it. Although I’m not certain how that’s going to look in comparison to the other DVD sets, I’m willing to give it a place there.

Take a look at the listed features for the set and the artwork, and check out 24’s sixth season on DVD on December 4th.
