Lock your doors. Rusty Nail is back! Fox Home Entertainment will release Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead on DVD October 7th.
Our favorite psychotic truck driver is revving his engine again and out to get some more hot young travelers. This time around, the group is played by Nicki Aycox, Nick Zano, Kyle Schmid and Laura Jordan. They suffer some car troubles on their way to Las Vegas and decide it would be a bright idea to borrow a car they find at a vacant home. It’s not as bad as it sounds though. They plan to return it once they get rolling again! Little do they know, their newly acquired whip is the property of the infamous truck driver with the CB-handle “Rusty Nail.” No surprise, Rusty doesn’t appreciate these youngsters toying with his property and decides to hunt them down and force them to endure his ruthless mind games filled with torture and even death.
The bonus features include the “Joy Ride 2: The Making of Dead Ahead” featurette, “Blood and Guts: The ‘Make-Up’ of Horror” featurette as well as a storyboard-to-scene comparison. I always feel as though horrors flicks have the most potential to be creative when it comes to the bonus material, so the selection on this disc seems a bit unappealing for my taste. (Or maybe it’s just the fact that there is no gag reel.) But still, I am quite the sucker for a cheesy scary movie and am expecting Joy Ride 2 to be just that. If this movie makes me jump out of my seat as much as its predecessor it’ll certainly be worth the $26.98 from my wallet. Actually, I might even pull out $34.98 to get the DVD two-pack including both the new sequel and the original.
