Busch Gardens Ride Gets A Movie

Inspiration for films have come from a great many places – books, theater, T.V., video games, even other movies. Perhaps the dumbest basis for a movie is the inspiration of an amusement park ride. Supposedly, Disney debunked that theory with the downward-spiraling Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and now Busch Gardens wants to get into the make-my-ride-a-movie game. Apparently, plans are in motion for Corkscrew Hill, an animated 3-D stereoscopic ride at Busch Gardens Europe in Williamsburg, Va., to be adapted into a computer-generated 3-D movie, reports The Hollywood Reporter

"We're a few weeks away from bringing (the script) to Hollywood and passing it around to see if we can find people to help us make it," said Jeff Kleiser, who co-wrote the ride for Busch Entertainment. "The idea of presenting 3-D stereoscopic feature films is finally going to go mainstream. Jim Cameron, my brother Randal, everyone's talking about going stereo."

Let’s see, Cameron, brother Randal… yep, that’s just about “everyone.”

"We [Kleiser and brother Randal] believe the time is right for doing a distributed production where you can assemble a team of artists globally and have them work where they work best -- which is where they are -- and not necessarily have them gather in a central location,” said Kleiser, speaking mostly in riddles. "We are extending our reach globally so we can deliver the highest quality at the best price."

"The characters will continue to gain impressions for the foreseeable future, and hopefully we can capitalize on that," he continued.

That’s a lot of fancy talk from someone who wrote an amusement park ride. Although Kleiser hasn’t quite perfected the art of name dropping, he’s dedicated to selling this half-assed idea. After his 3-D, stereophonic crap fest hits the big time, Kleiser plants to adapt more rides such as Cedar Point’s Blue Streak and Walt Disney World’s Tea Cup Ride. I can’t wait for the 3-D vomit.
