First Trailer For Jesus Henry Christ, Starring Michael Sheen And Toni Collette

I'll admit it: I'm kind of a sucker for quirky indie comedies, the more twee the better. I fully recognize why some people don't like them and I honestly can't blame them - I have moments of self reflection about it myself - but lord help me, I can't get enough of a precocious young child who wants his mom to help track down their biological father. And that's exactly what I get in Jesus Henry Christ.

Based on a short that director Dennis Lee made back in 2003, the feature film stars Toni Collette, Michael Sheen, and introduces Jason Spevack and Samantha Weinstein. Check out the trailer below and to see it in HD hop over to Apple.

Does it look kind of corny? Sure. Has the young genius trope been done to death yet? Quite possibly. But still, I couldn't help myself from smiling while watching that preview. Add the fact that both Collette and Sheen are gold and I think you have a recipe for success here.

In the film, Spevack plays Henry James Herman, a young boy with an incredible mind who was raised alone by his feminist mother (Collette). When he decides that he wants to know the identity of his real father, he follows a trail of post-it notes hoping that it will lead him to his dad. Jesus Henry Christ will be available in limited release starting April 27th.
