Horror/Comedy Genre Gets Infested

Growing up in a small town is a double-edged sword. Sure, most people are nice and it’s quiet and safe, but there’s never anything to do. This complete dearth of interesting events forced my friends and I to find creative ways to pass the time. One of our favorites was raiding Hollywood Video to find shoddy horror movies. We would spend upwards of an hour bantering back and forth while combing aisle after aisle of low-budget vampire films.

Eventually, someone would announce five minutes and each person would make their selection. Each hour and a half disaster would then be passed around a circle for ogling and joke-making. My buddies and I would then vote and play paper-scissors-rock to determine which unfortunate soul would fork over three bucks and their parent’s membership card. Ahhh, it was democracy at its best. We would then drive to my house with bushels of Gatorade and vodka. Lots of hookah smoking and drunken offensiveness would follow while each man fired off comments as the movie played. Kevin Smith would have been proud.

So, it is with great zeal and gusto that I bring you the details on a new horror/comedy. The Hollywood Reporter has uncovered details on a new film entitled Infestation. The “horrody” will follow a waste of life, played by Christopher Marquette, who awakes to discover Earth has been invaded and overtaken by giant insects. Incensed, he rounds up a group of rag-tag Rambos in a foolhardy attempt to destroy the overgrown animals.

This may be good; this may be terrible; however, I can guarantee that it will be fun. Expect lots of gooey and severed bug appendages, plenty of bad dialogue, and a damn good experience. In the mean time, if you’re getting sick of Shaun Of The Dead or Snakes On A Plane check out the underseen and underrated gem Dead And Breakfast. It’s uproariously funny and surprisingly witty. Plus it’s got Diedrich Bader!
