Hugo Weaving is planning to star in a new 1920s film noir called The Tender Hook along with Rose Byrne and Matt Le Nevez. It’s a first time film from writer/director Jonathan Ogilvie being filmed in Sydney. The movie follows a young woman in the midst of a love and power triangle set in the world of boxing.
But that’s not the story here. The real story is Hugo Weaving’s crazy new hook-on beard. The picture to your right is the one Production Weekly ran with this story. That can’t possibly be real can it? I looks like one of the fake beards abandoned by “The Others” on ‘Lost’. That’s crazy. Unless you’re going to some sort of Biblical dress-up party Hugo, there’s really no place appropriate for a beard like that. Except maybe a bomb-building shack in the woods somewhere. He looks like Alan Moore. Maybe he’s auditioning for the part of Gandalf instead of Elrond in the new Hobbit movie?
