Watch Caesar Rough Up A Dude In An Extended Clip From Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes

Chimpanzees are some of the most incredible animals on earth. In addition to being the closest relative to humans, they form societies, know how to use tools, and have highly developed language centers and the ability to express empathy. But while that may all seem nice, it's probably best if you avoid pissing them off. Just ask the dude in this clip from Rupert Wyatt's Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
With the film set to arrive in theaters in two weeks and making a Hall H appearance at San Diego Comic Con in a few days, Yahoo! has premiered an extended look at the Planet of the Apes prequel. Clocking in at over four minutes and starting with an introduction by star Andy Serkis, the clip features a full scene in which Caesar, a chimp whose brain has advanced thanks to an experimental Alzheimer's cure, sees a person he cares about in danger and jumps into action.

Because I watched the fourth season of Dexter I still have a hard time watching John Lithgow without feeling the urge to let out a blood-curdling scream, but I must admit that this is a pretty cool clip. The chimp is surprisingly photorealistic - without dipping into the uncanny valley - and appears to actually be displaying real human emotions. I'm not sure if more credit should go to WETA or Serkis, so instead I'll commend them both as an incredible team that has been wowing us for nearly a decade.
