Jaime Sommers (Michelle Ryan) is just your average struggling young woman, working as a bartender in San Francisco and helping raise her teenage sister (Lucy Hale). Life gets a whole lot more complicated, though, when she gets into a fatal car accident-- well, it should have been fatal anyway. Thanks to a life-saving operation done by her boyfriend Will (Chris Bowers), Jaime becomes... bionic woman. With her bionic eye, bionic limbs and bionic ear, Jaime has superpowers like no one else in the world, and has to learn how to use them for good while coping with the new turn in her life.

In case you haven’t noticed, Bionic Woman is everywhere. Her crazy bionic eye has been staring at me from every other billboard in Manhattan, and every TV news item seems to involve the show. From casting prodigal actor Isaiah Washington in a recurring role to, well, remaking an incredibly popular 1970’s show (who else remembers Bill Haverchuck going as The Bionic Woman for Halloween on Freaks and Geeks?), this show has all the buzz you could possibly need. Plus, television is greatly in need of a show about a woman kicking ass, since Alias has been gone for a while and all the women on Lost have gotten whiny lately.

In conclusion, Bionic Woman is what we all need, but just don’t know it yet. Whether this show is any good is another question: the news that executive producer Glen Morgan has departed before the show has even begun isn’t exactly a good sign. Still, if it can bring the goods, Bionic Woman has an audience already built in and waiting.
