Syndicated Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader Renewed

It's a shame my son is going into the sixth grade. The syndicated version of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? has just gotten the go-ahead for a second season. We missed out on the chance for him to see just how stupid many adults are this past season, and now he's apparently too old and too smart for the series.

Cleared for 80% of the country, including the top 15 markets according to Reuters, Smarter currently comes in fourth among first-run game shows in syndication. The package also gets the Jeff Foxworthy-hosted series airings on CMT and prime time showings on MyNetworkTV, which has no idea what kind of network it wants to be at this point.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? burned out on ABC nearly 10 years ago, but continues to do quite well in syndication. so perhaps Smarter is on track to become another daytime staple. If it keeps Jeff Foxworthy from telling me the ways in which I might be a redneck for a few more years, I'm all for it.
