11 TV Shows Yanked Off The Air Following A Real-Life Scandal

Back in the day, controversial news could be shoved under the rug a bit more, but during the internet age, that’s become nearly impossible, and networks have responded by pulling shows from the channel. Without further ado, here are 11 TV shows that were yanked off the air after a real-life scandal.

HBO Is Being Sued Over Luck Horse Problems And Alleged Cover Up Of Animal Abuse

To say that HBO's bad luck with the cancelled series Luck has not run out would not only be a cringe-worthy pun, even for those of us with a guilty-pleasure for word play, but at this point, it'd be kind of an understatement as well. The premium cable channel shut down production and eventually cancelled the horse-race-focused drama series last winter, but its struggles with the show aren't over

HBO's Luck Won't Be Counted As A Miniseries Among The Emmy Categories

After drama series Downton Abbey won an Emmy for Outstanding Miniseries or Made for TV movie (despite not really being either), the category may appear, to some, to be a less challenging route to a nomination or win. Why go up against the likes of Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire when there’s a category out there with far less competition? While there are still great miniseries being made, there aren’t nearly as many as there are Emmy-worthy drama series.

HBO Shuts Down Luck Production Entirely After Third Horse Death

Following the news that a third horse had died on the set of HBO’s Luck, I wondered if would be going too far to think HBO might shut the show down completely. Apparently not. Earlier today we learned that HBO was holding off on shooting any scenes involving horses while the situation was assessed by the American Humane Association. And now it looks like HBO has opted to stop production on the series entirely.

HBO's Luck Stables Horses While Working Conditions Are Checked

the company has decided to stop using animals on the set of Luck until the American Humane Association(AHA) can come in and do test checks to make certain the set is designated as safe. Luck’s production crew actually works with the AHA and the CHRB to make sure everything is working according to safety standards. The horses even get pre-race exams to make certain everything is kosher.

Another Horse Dies On The Set Of HBO's Luck

Recent reports are stating that a horse has died during the filming of HBO’s drama series Luck. That alone is bad news, however this is apparently the third horse that’s died during production of the series, which is currently filming its second season.

HBO Has Already Renewed Luck For A Second Season

Even though Luck's 1.1 million viewers wasn't especially dynamite by pay cable standards, it's got a ton of huge names involved that should continue to draw attention, including stars Dustin Hoffman, Nick Nolte and Dennis Farina, director Michael Mann

HBO To Make Luck Episode 2 Available Early Through HBO Go

While some may have tuned in last month for the early preview, HBO’s racetrack drama Luck is set to make its official premiere on the premium channel this Sunday night. HBO released news today that they’ll be giving HBO Go users the opportunity to get an early look at the second episode of the series.

Video: HBO Says Goodbye To 2011 As It Prepares For 2012

The video clip also manages to look to the future, mentioning many upcoming programs, including the long awaited Luck with Dustin Hoffman, which previewed last month. The video also officially labels Aaron Sorkin’s new drama for HBO The Newsroom. While we’ve been tentatively calling the project “Newsroom” for the past few weeks, having a concrete title really cements the fact we are getting ever closer to some new HBO.

Boardwalk Empire Season 2 Finale Hits Season High In Ratings, Luck Preview Does OK

HBO showed a special early look at their upcoming horse-racing drama Luck last Sunday nights. The pilot episode of the David Milch and Michael Mann project was aired between the premiere and re-airing of the Season 2 finale of Boardwalk Empire. The ratings are in and the preview episode didn’t do so bad.

HBO Teases The Premiere Of Michael Mann And David Milch's Luck

Those looking to fill the inevitable void after the second season finale of everyone's favorite gangster series, well, you don't even have to change the channel. HBO's brand new show called Luck should definitely appeal to the Boardwalk Empire crowd, and it's no coincidence that the pay-cable network scheduled a sneak peek of the pilot to follow the season ender of the Prohibition drama. Here is another brief look at the rapidly approaching new show.

HBO To Air The Luck Pilot More Than A Month Early

If you’ve been looking forward to the series premiere of HBO’s new drama Luck, you may not have to wait as long as you thought. While the series is still set to debut in January, HBO is planning to air the pilot episode more than a month early.

First Look At HBO's Luck After Season Finale Of Boadwalk Empire

Those that are anxiously awaiting the upcoming HBO series Luck are in it - luck that is - because audiences will be getting a first look at the pilot episode a little earlier than expected. In a pretty smart move, considering the inevitable shared audiences between it and their current hit Boardwalk Empire, HBO will air the pilot of the seemingly seedy horse-racing drama after the season finale of the prohibition gangster series.

Watch First Teaser Trailer For HBO's Luck

HBO’s horse racing show Luck has mostly stayed out of the news lately. We know Dustin Hoffman is set to star as gambling man Ace Bernestein and Nick Nolte will play a down-and-out horse trainer. Director Michael Mann (Heat) and David Milch (Deadwood) are behind the project, but since July there has been little other information from HBO’s end. Now, HBO has released a first teaser trailer for Luck.

New Trailer For HBO's Horse Racing Show Luck Looks Incredible

Seedy, magical and outdoorsy, this new teaser/ production diary for Luck outlines all the interconnection between the horses, the gamblers and the big money overseeing the operation. It's an angle not normally seen by the masses having a few beers and betting two dollars on funny-sounding equines to show, but if you wander far enough from the galleries and snoop on some of the old timers frantically screaming for late charges, you probably know exactly what I'm talking about

Michael Gambon Joins HBO's Luck

Who’d win in a battle of wills, Michael Gambon or Dustin Hoffman? I have no idea, however from this latest bit of news, it seems the two actors will be pit against one another in their roles in HBO’s upcoming new series Luck.

Dustin Hoffman Heading To The Racetrack In New HBO Series

Hoffman will star in HBO’s new series Luck, a show about the inner workings of the horse racing industry from the jockeys to the owners, gamblers to the stable hands.
