Enjoy Season Two Of Private Practice In The Privacy Of Your Own Home

There’s a reason we see so many medical shows on TV: they’re good. When you’ve got a runaway hit like Grey’s Anatomy, you might as well milk it for all it’s worth. Well, that’s what ABC did. Back in 2007, Private Practice, a Grey’s spin-off following Dr. Addison Montgomery, debuted and found nearly as much success as its predecessor.

We met Addison (Kate Walsh) during the season finale of the first season of Grey’s Anatomy. After a number of relationship issues, Addison decides she needs to get out of Seattle and moves to Los Angeles to join a private practice. Sadly, the move doesn’t free her from relationship trouble. Right off the bat, she’s stood up by the practice’s alternative-medicine specialist. Naturally, Addison suffers through more failed attempts at romance, but the first half of the second season is primarily devoted to the practice’s financial troubles. She also must deal with a disconcerting visit from her brother, Archer (Grant Show), leading to a reluctant reunion with her ex-husband Derek (Patrick Dempsey).

The third season of Private Practice begins on ABC October 1st, so you’ll have more than enough time to play catch up. You can buy Private Practice: The Complete Second Season on DVD for $59.99 on September 15th. On top of all the episodes from the season, you’ll get “Patient Confidentiality,” during which creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes, executive producer Betsy Beers, and actors Paul Adelstein and Amy Brenneman take a look at some of the controversial issues brought up during the season. The set also includes a featurette called “Life Through The Lens: The Pictures of Chris Lowell,” extended episodes, deleted scenes, and, best of all, bloopers.

The problem with television shows is that they’re so time consuming. There are only so many you can commit yourself to. That’s where TV on DVD comes in. With all of the buzz about new shows premiering this fall, Private Practice has been completely overshadowed. Even if it can’t be squeezed into your weekly show schedule, consider enjoying it on your own time, on DVD.
