Activision announced today that the Call of Duty Championship will be taking place this April. In this tournament, 32 four-player teams will face off in Black Ops 2' multiplayer on the Xbox 360 version.

Players interested in competing can register at CallofDuty.com. Teams can compete through League Play on Black Ops 2 through Xbox Live. At the end of February, the top eight trams will earn spots in the Call of Duty Championship.

eSports competitions across the world will supply the other participants. Teams at the MLG 2013 Winter Championship in March will also have a chance to get into the tournament. The top eight teams at that championship will earn trips. Another eight teams will gain entry through the ESL's European Finals in the same month. The remaining slots of the tourny will be filled by players in Asia, Australia and Brazil. Additional details on those territories' events will be announced soon.

The Call of Duty Championship is slated for April 5th to April 7th. It'll be held in Hollywood, California. The winners can earn $1 million in prizes. The competition will be live-streamed so that players not in attendance can watch the action.
