Super Bowl XLVII Winner Predicted By Madden 13
Super Bowl XLVII is next weekend and EA has simulated the match-up in Madden NFL 13. Based on their simulation, it looks like the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers are going to put on one hell of a show.
The simulated Super Bowl XLVII started with a slow first quarter, as both teams' defenses held their opponents to field goals. However, eventually both offenses got rolling in subsequent quarters. The 49ers and Ravens each managed to score touchdowns on the ground and in the air. A 12-yard touchdown pass from San Francisco's Colin Kaepernick to Vernon Davis tied the game at 24-24 at the two-minute warning.
As the game clock winded down, Joe Flacco then led the Ravens down the field with help from running back Ray Rice. Kicker Justin Tucker booted the ball through the uprights from 40 yards to put the Ravens up by three points. The 49ers tried to answer with a drive of their own, by Kaepernick was picked off by Ed Reed in the closing seconds.
The Madden 13 simulation says that Joe Flacco will be the MVP of the game. It wasn't just because of that last drive. He had a solid game all around, with 260 yards, two touchdowns and over 66% completion percentage.
The annual Super Bowl simulations by Madden are generally pretty accurate. They've correctly predicted seven of the last nine Super Bowls. We'll see if the 49ers can dent that winning percentage a bit.
Super Bowl XLVII will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on February 3, 2013. Kick-off is at 6:30 EST.
